Please Note: This Magento 2 extension is developed and maintained by EcomPlugins and is not an official extension created by TForce Freight. It is designed to help Magento 2 merchants integrate TForce Freight shipping services and retrieve available LTL freight rates through the TForce Freight API.

Magento 2 TForce Freight Shipping Extension is a downloadable Magento 2 extension that requires a one-time purchase.

The Magento 2 TForce Freight Shipping Extension connects your Magento 2 store with TForce Freight to calculate available freight shipping rates. Eligible TForce Freight rates can be displayed to customers on the shopping cart and checkout pages.

Freight rates are calculated using shipment information such as the merchant's warehouse/origin address, customer destination address, shopping cart product weights, freight shipping class, product dimensions, and applicable delivery requirements.

If your Magento store ships heavy, oversized, palletized, or commercial products, explore our complete range of Magento 2 LTL Freight Shipping Extensions for additional freight carrier integrations.

TForce Freight API Integration for Magento 2

This extension acts as an integration between your Magento 2 store and the TForce Freight API. It does not automatically create a TForce Freight account or provide freight transportation services.

The extension uses the TForce Freight API to request available freight shipping rates based on the products in the customer's cart and the configured shipping information.

This helps Magento 2 merchants automate freight rate calculations instead of manually determining shipping costs for every LTL freight order.

Real-Time TForce Freight Rate Calculation

The Magento 2 TForce Freight Shipping Extension sends the required shipment information to the TForce Freight API and processes the returned shipping rates.

Depending on your store configuration and shipment, rate calculations can use information including:

  • Merchant warehouse/origin address
  • Customer destination address
  • Shopping cart product weight
  • Product-level freight shipping class
  • Product dimensions
  • Residential or commercial destination
  • Liftgate requirements
  • Extreme-length shipment requirements
  • Configured shipping markup

Available TForce Freight shipping rates can then be displayed directly to customers during the Magento 2 checkout process.

Magento 2 TForce Freight Extension Features

  • Connect Magento 2 with the TForce Freight API for freight rate requests.
  • Display available TForce Freight shipping rates on the shopping cart and checkout pages.
  • Enable or disable liftgate service.
  • Enable or disable residential delivery options.
  • Automatically check the destination address for residential or commercial delivery when the configured API option is available.
  • Configure product-level freight shipping class.
  • Configure product-level dimensions for freight rate calculations.
  • Support extreme-length logic and applicable freight rate calculations.
  • Configure a minimum shipment weight before displaying TForce Freight rates.
  • Offer free shipping based on order subtotal and configured Magento shopping cart rules.
  • Add a fixed or percentage-based markup to returned freight rates.
  • Display a custom error message when TForce Freight is unable to return an applicable shipping rate.
  • Manage TForce Freight settings directly from the Magento 2 Admin Panel.

Product-Level Freight Class and Dimensions

LTL freight shipments often require more detailed product information than standard parcel shipping. The extension allows Magento administrators to configure freight shipping class and dimensions at the product level.

This functionality is particularly useful for stores selling heavy, oversized, industrial, commercial, or palletized products where product characteristics can affect the freight shipping rate.

By maintaining freight-related information at the product level, the extension can include the appropriate shipment details when requesting rates from TForce Freight.

Residential and Commercial Address Options

Freight shipping costs can vary depending on whether a shipment is being delivered to a residential or commercial location.

The extension provides options for handling residential and commercial freight deliveries. Administrators can configure the residential delivery option and use address validation functionality when available through the configured TForce Freight API service.

This helps provide more appropriate freight rate requests based on the customer's delivery location.

Liftgate Delivery

A liftgate may be required when the freight destination does not have a loading dock or suitable equipment for unloading the shipment.

The Magento 2 TForce Freight extension allows administrators to enable or disable the liftgate delivery option, helping merchants account for this additional freight service when requesting applicable shipping rates.

Extreme Length Freight Rate Calculation

Some freight shipments include unusually long products that may be subject to additional carrier rules or charges. The extension includes extreme-length logic to support freight rate calculations for applicable long or oversized products.

This can be useful for Magento stores selling products such as building materials, industrial components, long equipment parts, or other merchandise where shipment length can affect freight pricing.

Minimum Weight for TForce Freight Rates

Not every Magento order needs to use an LTL freight carrier. The extension allows administrators to configure a minimum shipment weight before TForce Freight rates are displayed.

If the cart does not meet the configured minimum weight, the TForce Freight shipping method can be hidden. This allows merchants to use other shipping methods for smaller orders while offering LTL freight for heavier shipments.

Free Shipping Rules

The extension supports free shipping options based on the order subtotal and Magento shopping cart rules. This gives merchants additional flexibility when creating promotions or shipping incentives for qualifying orders.

For example, merchants can configure shipping promotions for orders that meet specific subtotal or cart rule requirements while continuing to calculate TForce Freight rates for other orders.

Fixed or Percentage Shipping Rate Markup

Store administrators can add an additional markup to the freight shipping rate returned by TForce Freight.

The markup can be configured as either a fixed amount or a percentage of the returned freight rate. This can help account for additional handling, packaging, pallet preparation, administrative, or other freight-related expenses.

How TForce Freight Rate Calculation Works

  1. The customer adds eligible products to the Magento 2 shopping cart.
  2. Magento collects the customer's destination and shopping cart information.
  3. The extension checks the configured minimum weight and applicable shipping rules.
  4. Product weight, freight class, dimensions, origin, destination, and applicable freight services are prepared for the rate request.
  5. The extension sends the freight rate request to the TForce Freight API.
  6. TForce Freight returns the applicable freight shipping rate information.
  7. The extension applies configured rules or shipping markup where applicable.
  8. Eligible TForce Freight shipping rates are displayed to the customer.
  9. The customer selects the shipping option and continues checkout.

TForce Freight API Account & Configuration

To use this extension, merchants must have the appropriate TForce Freight account and API access.

You can visit the TForce Freight Developer Portal to review the API registration and access requirements.

The extension does not automatically create a TForce Freight account. After completing the required registration and obtaining API access from TForce Freight, enter the provided credentials into the TForce Freight shipping configuration section of your Magento 2 Admin Panel.

Once the API credentials and shipping settings are configured, the extension can begin requesting available TForce Freight shipping rates.

EcomPlugins charges for the Magento 2 extension itself. Any freight transportation charges, account requirements, API policies, or other carrier-related fees are determined separately by TForce Freight.

Who Should Use the Magento 2 TForce Freight Extension?

This extension is designed for Magento 2 merchants that use TForce Freight for LTL shipping and want to automate freight rate calculations during checkout.

It can be particularly useful for Magento stores selling:

  • Industrial equipment and supplies
  • Building and construction materials
  • Flooring and heavy building products
  • Automotive equipment and parts
  • Machinery and replacement components
  • Commercial and warehouse equipment
  • Furniture and oversized products
  • Long or extreme-length products
  • Palletized merchandise
  • Other products commonly shipped using LTL freight

Why Use a TForce Freight Extension for Magento 2?

Standard parcel shipping integrations may not provide all the information required to calculate LTL freight rates. Freight shipments may require information such as freight class, dimensions, shipment weight, residential or commercial delivery type, liftgate requirements, and special handling for unusually long products.

Integrating TForce Freight directly with Magento 2 helps automate this process by requesting available freight rates through the API and presenting eligible shipping options during checkout.
