This downloadable Magento 2 extension integrates your store with the official FedEx Address Validation REST API to automatically determine whether a customer's shipping address is Residential or Commercial during checkout.
This extension works perfectly alongside our Magento 2 FedEx Shipping REST API extension and complements our complete Magento Address Validation solution.
FedEx shipping rates often depend on whether a shipment is being delivered to a residential or commercial address. Selecting the wrong address type can result in inaccurate shipping charges, unexpected carrier fees, or incorrect shipping methods.
During checkout, the extension automatically sends the customer's complete shipping address—including street address, city, state, ZIP/postal code, and country—to the official FedEx Address Validation REST API. FedEx analyzes the address and returns whether it is classified as a Residential or Commercial delivery location.
The extension automatically updates Magento before shipping rates are calculated, ensuring the correct FedEx residential or commercial rates are displayed without requiring any customer interaction.
If FedEx cannot determine the address type, the extension automatically falls back to your configured Magento FedEx shipping settings, ensuring checkout continues without interruption.

Important: The FedEx Address Validation API must be enabled for your production FedEx Developer account before using this extension. If the service is unavailable, contact FedEx Support to enable Address Validation. The extension supports the latest FedEx REST API using secure OAuth 2.0 authentication.
To use this extension, create a FedEx Developer account and generate your REST API credentials.
Simply configure your Client ID and Client Secret within Magento Admin. API access is available for eligible FedEx accounts, while normal shipping charges continue to apply according to your negotiated FedEx rates.
