The Magento 2 Admin Change Shipping Method Extension allows store administrators to change an order's shipping method after the order has been placed. You can select another available shipping method directly from the Magento Admin before creating the shipment.
This is especially useful when a customer places an order using Free Shipping, Flat Rate, or another checkout shipping method, but your fulfillment team later needs to ship the order using a carrier such as UPS, FedEx, USPS, or another installed Magento 2 shipping carrier.
Instead of being limited to the shipping method originally selected during checkout, administrators can choose an available shipping method while creating the shipment. This provides greater flexibility when selecting the actual carrier used to fulfill an order.
Go to Magento Admin → Sales → Orders and open the order you want to ship.
Click the Ship button to open the Create Shipment page. The extension adds a shipping method dropdown where the administrator can select from the available Magento 2 shipping methods.
The available options are based on the shipping carriers and methods installed and configured on your Magento store. Select the required shipping method and continue creating the shipment.
If the selected shipping carrier supports shipping labels through Magento, you can continue with the normal shipment and shipping label creation process.
The updated shipping method is recorded with the shipment and order information, making it easier for administrators to track the shipping method actually used to fulfill the order.
The shipping method selected by a customer during checkout may not always be the shipping method ultimately used to fulfill the order.
For example, a customer may qualify for Free Shipping, while your fulfillment team decides to send the package through UPS, FedEx, USPS, or another carrier based on shipping cost, delivery time, package size, destination, or warehouse requirements.
The Magento 2 Admin Change Shipping Method Extension gives your fulfillment team the flexibility to select the appropriate shipping method before shipment creation without changing the customer's original checkout process.
